Why Am I Fat Season 1’s Female Winner

Patricea is: A Yoga teacher. A fitness and lifestyle enthusiast. NuZest brand advocate & ambassador. Dancer (salsa, jazz). Copywriter.

A Singaporean Chinese who grew up on a mix of sci-fi novels, theatre performances, British drama series, nature documentaries & loads of outdoor activities, being Patricea is a mix of Eastern & Western influences.

Being active runs in her family – her mother continues to do weekly folk dance at the age of 72, her brother practices MMA thrice weekly with Royston Wee, & jogs on other days – and Patricea caught the active lifestyle bug at 9-years old, thanks to rehearsals for a Malay dance performance at an old folk’s home. Throughout her school years, she’s taken part in sports day meets (50-m freestyle swim, long jump, 100-m track sprint, an ODAC-style Adventure Camp, leisure canoeing, abseiling, flying fox). In her mid 20s, she trained in various dance forms for two years: classical jazz, adult ballet, salsa, Latin Standard, hip hop, waltz.

In 2016, she stumbled upon yoga and found a delicious balance of strength, flexibility & graceful movement in the practice. After obtaining a 250YTC in Hatha yoga at an ashram in Nasik, India, she teaches Hatha flow, Yin, Yoga Core, & Power Yoga.

When she is not teaching, she indulges her love for inversions & movement through aerial yoga & jazz dance lessons. She also enjoys Tabata-style free weights conditioning at the gym, HIIT, & running 5km on days when she is not teaching yoga or doing her own yoga practice.

A vegan due to health issues, Patricea is studying for the Level 1 certification with Precision Nutrition. Her awareness of how nutrition affects optimal physical, mental & emotional performance was noticed by New Zealand vegan-organic pea protein brand, NuZest, who has signed Patricea as their brand ambassador and advocate from 2018 onwards.

Patricea is also a creative writer & copywriter who has more than 22 years of published work. She used to be working in the local media, and hence is savvy in handling people and public events.

Not one to be shy in front of an audience, she has acted in school & hostel plays at The Blackbox at the Substation, as well as at Ngee Ann City Atrium. Most recently, she was a co-emcee for a children’s charity dinner event on Christmas & New Year’s Eve 2018 held at Hotel Jen Tanglin, organised by 6 Productions, movie producer Daniel Yun, & PAVE Singapore.
